Miami, FL, April 22, 2010: Recent studies have determined that about 1% of our population is Transgender, and South Florida leads among the highest percentage of this population in the United States. There has developed a mounting necessity for education and understanding of the transgender experience and how to care for their needs.
In helping to encourage awareness, The Aqua Foundation for Women and Florida International University proudly announces the FIRST annual Transgender conference, the “Transcon.” This inaugural three day event provides the opportunity to help build direction for the inclusion of the Transgender population by empowering our Community with the information needed to best serve and create a more powerful, positive and meaningful impact in these individuals lives.
The TransCon takes place: April 30 – May 2, 2010
at FIU Biscayne Bay Campus – Wolfe University Center – 3000 NE 151st Street, North Miami, FL 33181 and is open to the General Public.
